Penalty Notices
The Local Authority has asked us to give you the following information:
Penalty Notices were introduced under the Anti-Social Behaviour Act 2003 as an additional sanction to address the problem of poor attendance at school.
Gloucestershire Local Education Authority is able to issue Penalty Notices and a fine of between £50 and £100 to parents of pupils with an unacceptable level of unauthorised absence (ie absence that school has not given permission for).
To avoid the possibility of receiving a fine please make sure that your child attends school regularly and on time. If your child does have to be absent please ensure that school is kept fully aware of the circumstances. If a pupil misses school for an unacceptable reason the school is required to notify the Local Education Authority.
Illness
If your child is unwell and unable to attend school please telephone the office to report the absence.
If your child has had sickness or diarrhoea please DO NOT return them to school for 48 hours after the last
episode. The germs which cause these problems are VERY contagious and can spread rapidly through a class.
Please encourage your child to wash their hands with soap after using the toilet and before eating as this will help prevent the spread of germs.
Dogs
We are getting an increasing number of
parents bringing dogs to meet the children from school.
For Health & Safety reasons dogs are not
allowed on school premises nor should dogs be tied to the school fence and left unattended. No matter how placid a dog seems, if frightened by small children
running towards it, it could well bite.
Nestle Box Tops
The final date for these tokens is 23rd March so please bring in any you have collected as soon as possible.
Book Fair
The Scholastic Book Fair is coming to school from 16th March - 22nd March and will be open from 3.00 pm - 4.00 pm on Friday 17th, Tuesday 21st and Wednesday 22nd.
On Thursday 16th and Monday 20th you will be able to browse through the books whilst you are waiting to see your child?s teacher for Parent Consultation as the Fair is open from 3.00 pm - 6.30 pm.
Helpers Required
Mrs Steer is desperately in need of parents to help one morning or
afternoon each week to hear and
encourage the children to read. If you are available please let her know as soon as possible.
The Reception teachers are keen that the
children have the opportunity to use the outside play area on dry days. If you are free one morning or afternoon each week and would like to help supervise the Reception play area please let Miss Hills know as soon as possible.
Important
It is important that teachers are
informed if circumstances in a
Pupil?s home life change.
If parents separate, a relative dies or a parent is out of work it is surprising how much this can affect a child?s behaviour at school. Some children may become withdrawn, others may become aggressive, some will
become upset very easily. If the teacher is made aware, the effects can be more easily dealt with.
Farewell
We are very sad to be saying goodbye to Mrs Jan Thomas at the end of this term. She has been ?part of the
furniture? for a very long time and we will miss her.
