4 Jun 2006 - June Newsletter
Sponsored Keep Fit
The Sponsored Keep Fit took place just before the holiday. The children were very enthusiastic and seemed to thoroughly enjoy it. Please send all sponsor money collected into school by Friday 16th June
Spare Clothes
We are in need of the following items of clothing for our spare clothes box:
Girls socks
Large boys trousers
Polo shirts
If you have any of the above which your child has outgrown we would be grateful for them. NO OTHER clothing is required thank you.
Wake and Shake
Wake and Shake has been attracting such a large audience in recent weeks that many of the children have become distracted and begun playing to the gallery rather than concentrating on the exercise. We have therefore decided to do it after the school day has started when the children will be more focussed.
Dressing Up Clothes
We are making up a ?Dressing Up? box for the children to use at playtimes. If you have any suitable clothes/hats/shoes etc please hand them in at the office as soon as possible.
Cultural week - 5th - 9th June
This week we are focusing on other cultures. Reception will be learning about the Chinese, Year 1, the Indian and Year 2, the African cultures. If you have any artefacts, songs or talents relevant to any of these cultures that you are willing to share with the children please let your child?s teacher know.
PTA Summer Fair -
Saturday 17th June 2 - 4 pm
Arrangements for the Summer Fair are now in hand. If you have had a sort out during the holiday donations of raffle prizes, soft toys, smellies, bottles, toys and books will be gratefully received.
Helpers are still required for the fair - more hands make light work!
Sports Day -
Monday 3rd July 9.15 am
Sports day will be held on Monday 3rd July at 9.15 am. If it is raining it will be deferred until Thursday 6th July. Parents are welcome to come and support their
children?s class doing their non-competitive events.
Summer Concert
We are again hosting the joint
Infant and Junior Orchestral
Concert. This year's concert is on Friday 7th July at 6.30 pm. Children in the choir, violins, recorder club and Year 1 music club will have an opportunity to perform at the concert and tickets will be available from the office nearer the time.
Thank You!
From Miss Attwood to the mums who helped sew the hems of the dance scarves.
Photographs
Ian Aspey is coming on Wednesday 7th June to take the photos for the Y2
leavers packs and to take whole class photos of Reception and Y1. When you receive your pack/proof please return the money/order promptly.
Book Fair -
Monday 19th - Thursday 22nd June
Elite Book Fair is coming to school and will be open from 3.00-3.45 pm. Take the opportunity to buy your children's summer reading or stock up on presents for summer birthdays.
Wet Mornings
On very wet mornings the children are able to go straight to their classrooms from 8:45 am. Please do not try to enter before this time as the staff cannot be responsible for the children as they are busy preparing for the day. Please take the children to the cloakroom of the classroom not through the main entrance.
Maths Trail
The children will be following a Maths Trail around the school during the week
commencing 26th June. In order for the children to gain the full benefit we will need some parent helpers. Look out for posters on the classroom windows and sign up if you are able.
MONTHLY MOANS!
Parking in Brookfield Road
I am sure you are tired of reading pleas for
considerate parking in Brookfield Road. We have again had a comment from a neighbour whose fence has been damaged by cars turning in her driveway. Please take care when parking in the roads around school, keep driveways clear and make sure you are not blocking the roads for emergency services and other road users.
Please could you pass on this request to the
parents of any Junior School pupils you are in contact with.
Dogs
We are still getting parents bringing dogs to meet the children from school.
For Health & Safety reasons dogs are NOT allowed on school premises
Nor should dogs be tied to the school fence and left unattended.
No matter how placid a dog seems, if frightened by small children running towards it, it could well bite!
